The Meaning of Naiad

The Naiad name and logo were chosen for two reasons: Firstly, as a play on words for 'nymph' fly-fishing and secondly for a set of life values.
Indeed, in Greek mythology, Naiads are a type of nymph who presided over lakes and rivers. These nymphs personify the creative and fostering activities of nature. They are depicted as young maidens immersed in water. Naiads help to preserve the delicate balance and beauty of nature and as such care for the environment and their inhabitants. They protect the ecosystem, from the largest tree to the smallest of insects.

Naiad Business & Social Values

Like the mythical Naiads, we care about our customers' satisfaction. We also try to help communities in the forms of assistance and protection.

  • Typhoon Ketsana Sept 09: 80% of Manila was flooded due to heaviest rainfall within 24 hours ever. A Naiad fund was raised. In December, the team in Manila finished coordinating their aid relief efforts with great success. We have helped 55 families (including 310 children) who shared 650 kgs of rice, 160 packs of noodles, 70 tins of sardines, 30 jars of coffee, 30 bars of soap, 30 boxes of milk powder and 30 kgs of sugar. We also supported the hospitalization of two children, one suffering of Denge fever and the other of severe influenza.
  • Fishing Art: Simon, as British painter, asked Keith to sponsor a series of oil paintings of the Mont-Blanc lake in Haute-Savoie (France). The fabulous paintings materialize the close relations of fly-fishermen to nature. Keith happens to be casting his Naiad nymphs in one of them. Guess where the painting is?
  • School in The Philippines: Attending school in the Philippines is expensive for many families. Children often go to school barefoot and with a single sheet of paper. With the help of generous donators, all children belonging to the Rosario village primary school on Mindanao island started term with all necessary school supplies (books, pens, maps etc). Leftover funds were used on games (drafts, rackets and balls) for the school.
